Bel Aire to install fountains in Central Park
A layer of filmy algae has become increasingly visible in those retention ponds. Not only is it unpleasant to look at, it causes other issues. The city has tried other ways of resolving the problem, such as putting a nature-safe dye in the water to make it darker. That reduces the amount of sunlight that gets through and stunts the growth of the algae.
