Shooting club competes at state
The Hornets had two medal winners. Aaron Black hit 64 of 75 birds, placing second in the novice division. Andy Lieber was also on top of his game as he hit 61 birds to finish second in the junior varsity division.

Glover, three others on all-state softball
Named to the first team were outfielder Wylie Glover and pitcher Kaylee Burnett. Glover was a first-team selection last year as well. It was the first time for Burnett.

Swimmers capture win over Derby
The girls won 243-201, while the boys won 213-158.

Alleys win father-son tennis tournament
Jim Alley and his son David Alley captured the title in the fourth annual Valley Center Father-Son Tennis Tournament June 17 at the Valley Center High School courts.

Swimmers dive into season
The Valley Center Swim Club started the season with a meet at Winfield June 6.

UK soccer players host local camp
Valley Center's AYSO Region 253 hosted a UK International Soccer Camp June 5 through 9. Thirty Valley Center kids, age 5 to 16, attended. They were taught by four coaches from the United Kingdom — James Ridge of Birmingham, England, Mo Saed of Birmingham, England, Reece Hands of Sheffield, England, and James Ridge of Blackpool, England. Hands is currently a professional soccer player in England for Gainsborough Trinity.
