The Hornets fell to Goddard, 1-0, in the first round of the 5A regional playoffs in Great Bend May 14. Valley Center finished the season with a 17-8 record.

| Hornet soccer needs double OT to advance
The Valley Center High School girls' soccer team is on to the second round of regionals after a win in Hutchinson on May 14. The Hornets will play at undefeated Maize South for the third time this season on May 17 at 7 p.m.

Ending its historic run, the Valley Center High School tennis team competed in the Class 5A state tennis tournament May 10 and 11 in Andover.

Senior Holden McDaniel shot a 13-over 83 at a 5A regional tournament May 14 on the Salina Municipal Golf Course. The score was good enough for 16th place and a 5A state tournament berth.

The Valley Center High School girls' swimming team competed at the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League Division II meet in Andover on May 11. The girls placed fourth with 248 points in one of the toughest leagues in the state.
