101 Club kickoff set for April 28
By The News staff
Last Updated: April 12, 2018

The Jim James Memorial 101 Club at 2206 E. 101st North will hold its annual "Arbor Day" membership kickoff event April 28. Family-friendly activities are scheduled throughout the day and are open to anyone considering annual membership at the 70-acre recreational facility, which is located two miles northeast of Valley Center.

The day's activities include a free breakfast at 8 a.m. and free lunch at noon. Attendees may participate in a grounds cleanup and plant a tree on the grounds in honor or memory of a friend or family member. Additionally, there will be face-painting for children and a nature walk and tour open to all.

The 101 Club is an alcohol- and drug-free country club-like recreational facility maintained through memberships and private donations. It exists for the exclusive use of the addiction recovery community and volunteer supporters. The grounds feature a 10-acre fishing lake, paddle boats, camping, horseshoe pits, softball fields and three swimming pools. Barbecues and other events take place throughout the year, and bingo is held every Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
