Hornet track teams sixth at home meet

The Valley Center High School boys and girls track teams both finished sixth at their home meet on April 5.

The top individual performance of the meet for the Hornets was by Larry Wilson. Wilson won the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.04 seconds. Valley Center got another first-place finish from the boys' 4x100 meter relay team. That team consisted of Max Fields, Kory Martinez, Zach Williams and Wilson. They had a combined time of 43.80 seconds.

The best individual finish for the girls came from Sarah Schaar. She finished second overall in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 12:53.84.

Kory Martinez finished third for the boys in both the 100- and 200-meter dashes; he had times of 11.32 and 23.44 seconds, respectively. Williams also had a third-place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.11 seconds.

The teams visit Salina April 10 and Heights April 20.
