Perry Ellis signs autographs Aug. 14. KU star visits intermediate school By Chris Strunk Last Updated: August 20, 2015 Perry Ellis, star forward for the University of Kansas basketball team, spoke to a gym full of fifth- and sixth-grade students Aug. 14. He also dunked the basketball on Valley Center Intermediate School Principal Greg Lehr, and he blocked Superintendent Cory Gibson's shot attempt. Ellis — who is friends with the Kip Pulliam and his family, who live in the Valley Center school district — talked about the importance of homework and setting priorities. Ellis said he is grateful to be able to speak to young students. Lehr said he Ellis is a good role model for students. "It's always a good feeling coming out. They just get so excited. It just makes me feel good inside," Ellis said. After the talk, Ellis was surrounded by students — and intermediate school teachers and staff — for autographs and pictures. "It's an honor. It's a blessing. I thank God I'm in the position to do this stuff," Ellis said. |
