Last of convicted robbers sentenced
By Chris Strunk
Last Updated: September 12, 2013

D'laney Nixon, one of three men convicted of robbing the Intrust Bank in Valley Center nearly a year ago, was sentenced to more than 11 years in federal prison.

Nixon, 24, of Valley Center pleaded guilty to one count of bank robbery. A federal court judge handed Nixon a 140-month prison sentence Sept. 4.

Nixon's co-defendants have already been punished for their roles in the robbery. Terry G. Revels was sentenced to 235 months in prison, while Henry J. Adams III was given 140 months.

Authorities said Nixon and Revels entered the bank wearing ski masks and hoodies and carrying black bags. One of the men yelled for everyone in the bank to get on the floor. There were at least two customers in the bank at the time. One of the men appeared to have been pointing a gun, officials said.

The men vaulted over a tall counter and filled their bags with cash.

The two men got into a white Cadillac that was waiting outside. A Valley Center police officer stopped the vehicle on South Sheridan and the three men got out of the car and ran away. Adams apparently got into a second car that was driven by a fourth suspect, Veronica Johnson, of Wichita. Police caught Nixon near a business on South Cedar and searched for Revels.

Authorities said Revels broke into a nearby house and restrained a 15-year-old boy. Revels was later found hiding in a vehicle.

The vehicle Johnson and Adams were in was stopped on West Main Street.

For her role, Johnson was sentenced to time served plus probation.
