Around Park City

Politics moving gas prices higher?

Memorial Day became a federal holiday in 1971. However, it originated in 1868 after the Civil War to honor the dead.

Many will be traveling this weekend to decorate graves of loved ones. It's hard to believe gas prices have risen so high. Is it politics or what? We were all looking forward to lower gas prices, not higher ones!

It is sad the Park City Pool will not open this summer. Hopefully by next year, we will have a new pool. If only the people who have children are interested in having a swimming pool would go to the City Council meeting and state their interest, it could be put on a ballot and be voted on by the citizens of Park City. It would only be one mill cost. It means a lot to the children to have a pool to go to in the summer afternoons.

Some of you older people will remember the postcards that came out in the late 30's and 40's with the large rabbits and grasshoppers. We were told all about it at the Park City Alive program on May 18 at the library. This was an advertisement for people to come and live in our great state of Kansas.

The Senior Center will be closed on Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a day of remembrance of our loved ones who have passed on.
