Bel Aire approves appointments Taylor Messick The council voted to confirm its voting delegates for the Sedgwick County Association of Cities (SCAC) for 2019. Council members Justin Smith and Jim Benage made the decision easy for the council as both already regularly attend the meetings.

Kechi council approves accounting software Taylor Messick The Kechi City Council on March 28 approved a couple of items related to the day-to-day operation of the city. The items were unanimously approved.

Park City issues 39 permits in January and February The News staff The City of Park City issued 16 building permits during January for a total valuation of $1,512,321.00. Of that number, seven were for new home or duplex construction. Two were for new commercial construction.

Park City tables RC track for now Taylor Messick Alex Williamson proposed the track to Park City on Feb. 12 after working alongside Kyle Wasinger of the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board/Tree Board to scout potential locations. They chose the roller rink in Hap McLean Park.

Baseball team splits triangular Randy Fisher The results were similar to opening night in that the Hornets split, losing 10-5 to Campus and run-ruling Wichita North 19-1. Valley is now 2-2 on the season.

Golf team opens season at Crestview Taylor Messick On April 1, the Valley Center High School boys' golf team visited Crestview Country Club for a meet hosted by Andover High School. The Hornets finished 11th out of 11 teams with a combined score of 463.

Hartman to host NAIA wrestling The News staff The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced April 1 that Visit Wichita has secured the bid to host the 2020 and 2021 NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championships at Hartman Arena in Park City. Hornet soccer coach announces resignation Chris Strunk The Valley Center High School boys and girls soccer coach announced this week he will be stepping down at the end of the school year to take a job as athletic director at Concordia High School.

Hornet tennis fourth at Emporia Randy Fisher Hayden Brauer and Colby Swift were second at No. 1 doubles. Alejandro Torrelly was eighth at No. 1 singles. Dominic Phillips was 12th at No. 2 singles. Donnie Rowson and Braden Ruble were 13th at No. 2 doubles.

Hornets begin swim season Taylor Messick The Valley Center High School girls swimming team travelled to El Dorado High School for its first meet of the season March 26. They finished ninth out of 10 teams with 42 points.

Track team begins season strong The News staff The Valley Center High School track team brought home some shiny metal from their first competition of the season.

Valley beats Mulvane and Hutch Taylor Messick Valley Center came out of the gates looking sharp in the first 10 minutes. The Hornets got their only goal when Lexi Eddy took the ball inside the 18-yard box. Eddy laid the ball back to a trailing Vanessa Aguilar, who put the ball in the back of the net.
