As we head towards Thanksgiving and Christmas, we wanted to share some of the highlights of the fall season with our Valley Center community.

15 attend annual Veterans Dinner Officers and members of American Legion Smith-Phipps Post 76, Valley Center, held their annual Veterans Dinner at the Valley Center Community Center Nov. 12. Following the dinner, the Post recognized this year's American Legion Girls State graduate, Sydney Wekamp. Also, Commander LeRoy Cammerer recognized the departing Post Service Officer, Lora Neal, and Ronald L. Colbert, Past Post Commander and current Committee Chairman for the Commemoration spoke on the Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration Program.

Deer-vehicle wrecks abound The News staff The Kansas Highway Patrol said the peak day for vehicle-deer crashes was Nov. 13. Though there have been several wrecks on area roads during the past few weeks, Nov. 16 and 17 were particularly busy.
