Kechi approves purchase of sewer lift station pump Taylor Messick The loss of that pump means the sewer lift station is currently running without a backup. Public Works Director Larry Kallenberger said it is imperative to get a backup as soon as possible so the city isn't risking a sewage catastrophe.

Help Valley Victors ‘Stuff the Bus’ Come help us “Stuff the Bus" for the Valley Center Food Pantry on Oct. 6 for Serve Valley Center. We will have the Wag'en Tail bus in the Methodist Church parking lot (Fifth and Meridian) for people to bring non-perishable food items and paper goods. Valley Victors 4-H'ers will be there to accept the donations from 8 a.m. to noon.

VCRC considers outdoor fitness Chris Strunk The Valley Center Recreation Commission is considering the installation of an outdoor workout circuit with up to six pieces of equipment at the McKay Family Soccer Complex, and it wants to know what residents think of the idea.

Vehicle backs into police car The News staff A Valley Center police car received minor damage Sept. 21 when it was hit by another vehicle during a traffic stop. No injuries were reported. No arrests were made.
