    A fuel injector went bad and flooded the cylinder with gas, warping the piston and bending the rod. A replacement engine would cost about $10,000. The vehicle had close to 100,000 miles on it and was due to be replaced next year.

Hornets host pair of tournaments Randy Fisher
    With the regional tournament less than a month away, it has gotten hectic for the Valley Center High School tennis team. During the past week, the Hornets hosted two tournaments and played at Buhler and Goddard. Valley played Sept. 18 at Hesston but results were not available at deadline.
Hornets play first 18 of the season Taylor Messick
    The Valley Center High School golf team placed seventh as a team at the Andover Invitational on Sept. 17. The Hornets shot a 448.
Hornets split a pair of games, move to 5-3 Taylor Messick
    The Valley Center High School soccer team shut out a team and were shut out in recent games.
