Man arrested after car chase The News staff A Park City officer stopped a vehicle for traffic infractions near the 53rd Street exit on I-135. Before the officer could make contact with the driver, the vehicle sped off.

Man arrested on sex charges The News staff Police said James P. Watkins was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail Aug. 10 on charges of electronic solicitation of a child, aggravated criminal sodomy and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. He was still in jail early this week.

Park City council rejects proposed tax increase Taylor Messick The budget must be submitted to the county in late August. Now the city is pressed for time in deciding the final budget. A special meeting will be held to finalize the details. If the governing body fails to submit a budget, the state will create a budget on the city's behalf.

Suspect swaps Coke for beer The News staff Valley Center police this week are searching for the suspects who went to Kwik Shop at Fifth and Meridian, put beers in a Coca-Cola box, paid for the soda and left the store.

Valley Rocks organizer arrested Chris Strunk Matthew McCreary of Valley Center was arrested at his apartment in the 100 block of South Colby Aug. 8. McCreary was booked into jail on a Sedgwick County warrant for two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
