Bel Aire council approves new Tasers for police Taylor Messick
A similar deal with Axon was denied by the council last April after a heated debate. The department currently has four working Tasers shared among 14 officers. The Tasers have only been used a couple of times since the department got them eight years ago, but police Chief Darrell Atteberry said in April that the threat of a Taser is often enough to subdue a suspect.

Good for city to complete roadwork
Yes. You made the right decision. Your approval of the project to reconstruct Fifth Street from High Point to Broadway was the right thing to do. There was no reason to delay this project.

The funds are being used for an Elizabeth R. Bishop Learning and Research Center sign on our big building. Without this grant, this project would not be possible.
Time to end double tax
I am opposed to SB 247, but I support the Senate taking a position, so we can finally resolve this issue after 14 years. HB 2248 added one year and ended double taxes on Dec. 31, 2017. The city council compromised to add a second year ending Dec. 31, 2018. Neither position was voted on in the Senate and are not dead.
