Plat approved for Kechi business park addition Taylor Messick The property is located northwest of K-254 and 63rd Street and is owned by developer Buck Alley. Alley purchased the lots in 2016 at a city auction. In January 2017 he submitted a plan that would split the property between commercial and multi-family use.

Middle school boys win three against Derby The News staff The Hornets won two games against McPherson at home Jan. 25 and won three against Derby at home Jan. 29.

Middle school girls split eight road games The News staff Playing Jan. 29 at Derby, both “A" teams lost while both “B" teams won. Before that, the Hornets played Jan. 25 at McPherson, with both eighth-grade teams losing and both seventh-grade teams winning.

Council calls special meeting The News staff The council met behind closed doors for 20 minutes to discuss an “individual employee's performance," according to the motion that was made. The meeting included council members Ben Anderson, Paul Davis, Marci Maschino, Brendan McGettigan and Matt Stamm, Mayor Laurie Dove, assistant city administrator Kristine Polian and City Administrator Scott Hildebrand.
