    Noel Marvin Bowden, 95, died June 3, 2017. He worked for 36 years at Cessna Aircraft in Wichita and retired in 1987.

    Shirley Ann Garner, 79, bookkeeper for Derby refining, died June 12, 2017.

Kechi City Council establishes land bank Taylor Messick
    City Administrator Bob Conger proposed the idea to the council on May 25 and the idea was further discussed at a recent workshop. The council and staff ultimately agreed that the establishment of a land bank could potentially be a helpful tool in giving the city some control over potential properties and developments within the city.

    On English tests, the number of seventh-graders who scored above grade level or higher was below the state average. Disappointing results were seen in grades six, eight and 10 as well.
