Landscaper found guilty of bilking customers The News staff An area landscaping contractor was convicted Jan. 19 in Sedgwick County District Court of four counts of theft for taking money and not doing the work for homeowners in Maize, Bel Aire and Wichita.

Information on dead horse sought The News staff The Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death, but have no leads on who may have left the horse on the side of the road near 85th and Rock Road. The horse was discovered Jan. 18.

Local men witness political history Chris Strunk Andrew Dennett, 18, of Valley Center and Weston Brewster, 22, of Bel Aire were among the hundreds of thousands of spectators at President Donald Trump's inauguration Jan. 20. (Of course, in this season of fake news and alternative facts, the exact number of spectators is being debated.)

Main Street elects officers The News staff The Main Street Valley Center board of directors met Jan. 19 and elected officers for 2017. They are Christ Strunk, president; Marsha Huebert, vice president; Amy Stamm, secretary; and Mike Porter, treasurer.
