Resource officer receives association award The News Staff The KSJOA hosted its annual awards banquet July 28 in Lawrence, where it issued annual awards for student DARE essay winners as well as law enforcement officers, administrators and school administrators who go above and beyond their call of duty in the areas of law-related education, school safety and school security.

Man dies after vehicle hits him The News Staff Hugo St. Germain, who was struck by a vehicle while working on a vehicle on the shoulder of I-135 July 31, has died.

Police track glow sticks to river The News Staff Teenagers used glow sticks to trace their path to the Arkansas River near 61st and Hoover Aug. 6 so they wouldn't get lost coming back to their vehicles. Police, however, broke up the party.
