Council, residents concerned with flooding issues Taylor Messick Mayor David Austin said July 5 that the Bel Aire area received more rainfall in the last four weeks than it did in all of 2015. Some parts of the city got bombarded with more than 10 inches of rain within a four-hour period last week.

Allow beer sales at Jerry’s Owners of Jerry's Tex Mex Grill at Fifth and Meridian in Valley Center want to serve beer but a city ordinance forbids it because the restaurant sits too close to a church, First United Methodist Church across the street.

Still time to pledge support for a new Community Center This is great news. Thanks to the tireless efforts of a group of volunteers and the generosity of many people, the Friends of the Valley Center Public Library organization met its initial goal of raising $100,000 toward a new Community Center.

Flooding damages key Kechi bridge Chris Strunk Flash-flooding on July 2 and 3 damaged the 61st Street bridge between Oliver and Woodlawn, forcing officials to close the bridge and temporarily reroute drivers south on Woodlawn and Oliver to 45th.
