Retailer convicted of selling fakes The News staff
    A Wichita woman who owns a retail store in northeast Wichita was ordered to pay $25,000 and placed on five years federal probation for trafficking in counterfeit designer goods, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom said. She also forfeited all the counterfeit goods that investigators seized.

Park City council approves financing for purchase of Hayes facility Matt Heilman
    At its March 11 meeting, the Park City council voted in support of an ordinance authorizing the city to issue a total of $14.6 million in industrial revenue bonds for what's listed as the Murdoch Properties Project. Park City Administrator Jack Whitson explained that the name of the project is tied in with Air Capital Delivery and Warehouse CEO Lou Robelli's plans to purchase the Hayes Company facility.

    Frank Martinez is his son's biggest fan. And he doesn't hesitate to share how proud he is of the man who is realizing a dream of working as a head football coach. In year two of his position as the sideline leader for the Wichita Wild, Paco Martinez has already earned the label of  “Champion."
Former K-State QB encourages Sunrise students Matt Heilman
    On March 6, Collin Klein shared his faith-centered testimony to students at Bel Aire's Sunrise Christian Academy at the school's National Honor Society induction in which 18 sophomores and juniors were recognized as new NHS members. At Sunrise, students must have a cumulative unweighted GPA of at least 3.4 and must participate in volunteer projects to meet the standards of NHS membership. On March 6, the 18 new members increased Sunrise's participation in the National Honor Society to 42 members.

Ten Hornet wrestlers receive all-league nod Matt Heilman
    The Valley Center High School wrestling team wasn't finished receiving postseason honors after the Feb. 28 and March 1 Class 5A State Tournament in which eight Hornets competed and two earned medals. This week, 10 Hornets received all-league honors in Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League II.

    The cherry was placed on top of an unblemished season for the Valley Center Middle School wrestling team. On March 8, the Hornets capped their season with a Pioneer League II championship at the league tournament hosted by Goddard.
