Park City revisiting campus plan to upgrade facilities Matt Heilman A glaring need in Park City that has long been on a wish list is being addressed with a plan of action. On Jan. 28, the Park City council approved the dedication of a down payment from a recent land sale to go toward a fund that is planned to pay for the construction of a new City Hall building and a more adequate facility for the police department.

Valley pool serves as example for Park City Matt Heilman Most amenities cost cities more money to operate than they generate. It's especially true with community swimming pools, where at least locally, the goal each summer is to come as close to breaking even as possible and minimize the deficit.

Hornets compete against defending champs Matt Heilman The final score showed that Ark City handily beat Valley Center to further establish itself as one of the top contenders in Class 5A. But looking at each match in the dual against the two-time defending state champions and Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League II opponent, Valley Center High School wrestling coach Brian Shelton saw some things that he liked.

Hornets ready for league tournament The News staff It's tournament time for the Valley Center Middle School girls' basketball teams. The VCMS girls' eighth-grade team is one of the favorites to reign supreme in Pioneer League II. The Hornets' had mixed results in their final two games, but are in solid position in the pursuit to end their season as league champions.

Wreck stalls morning traffic Chris Strunk A wreck at the entrance to Kwik Shop in Valley Center Feb. 3 damaged two vehicles and snarled busy morning school traffic.

Wrecks reported on icy I-135 The News staff It was a busy few hours on I-135 Feb. 1. Area rescue crews were called to four separate wrecks, all apparently caused by the icy road. Wrecks occurred near 85th North, where a vehicle rolled; near 119th; and twice at 125th North.
