‘Lou Castro’ trial delayed until March Matt Heilman
    A complex case involving nearly 40 charges including first-degree murder has been delayed yet again and there's no guarantee of closure anytime soon. The jury trial scheduled in the case against Daniel U. Perez has been delayed for a fifth time. Most recently, the trial was to have started Jan. 21 before it was pushed to March 31.

    An employee and a shopper chased the man out the back door, while police were notified. Officers caught up to the man near Halstead Bank, just north of Leeker's.
DA files capital murder charges Chris Strunk
    Tony Bluml, 18, and his birth mother, Kisha Schaberg, 35, as well as Drew Ellington and Braden Smith, both 18, are accused of shooting Roger and Melissa Bluml and burglarizing their home at 5932 E. 109th North on Nov. 15. Melissa Bluml, 53, died the next day. Roger Bluml, 48, who was shot in the head, died Dec. 21. The Blumls are Tony Bluml's adoptive parents.

    Utilizing money it has saved over the years, the rec commission is seeking to expand its facilities. This time, the rec commission wants to build a nine-hole, par-three golf course east of the McKay Petrie Sports Complex and the Valley Center District Stadium.
