Editorials |
Meridian project is long overdue The city will begin the work next fall. The project will start with the construction of a large detention pond on city-owned property south of Ford Street (77th North), so stormwater can be moved underground (like it should be) and piped south out of the heart of the city. When complete, the low-lying drainage area in the 400 block of South Meridian — which has stalled hundreds of vehicles over the years — will be a thing of the past. The underground stormwater system will be designed to effectively handle runoff from neighborhoods surrounding the downtown area.
