Park City Youth Program seeks assistance from city Matt Heilman
The City of Park City is not dropping its partnership with the Park City Youth Program. But a lack of communication created concerns and questions that were addressed at the city's Sept. 9 park board meeting. By the end of the meeting, Park City Mayor Ray Mann said he planned to remove an item from the following night's city council meeting agenda that called for the cancellation of the 2013 contract with the youth program.

The Valley Center High School girls' golf team didn't have the luxury of easing into its season. In the first week of competition, the Hornets struggled in the Sept. 3, 18-hole season-opener hosted by Andover at Wichita State University's Braeburn Golf Course, the Sept. 5 nine-hole tournament hosted by Newton at Sand Creek Station and the Sep. 10, 18-hole tournament hosted by Andover Central at the Sierra Hills Golf Club a par-3 course.

For the first 40 minutes, the Hornets played well. Despite playing without its starting goalkeeper and missing a defensive starter, the Valley Center High School boys' soccer team hung with one of the traditionally strong teams from Class 6A for the entire first half and the start of the second.
