    It runs in the family. Sort of. Kechi resident Sue Ryan has been cutting hair for about 40 years and has been a successful small-town business owner longer than most Kechi businesses have existed. In 1979, she opened Suzy's Hair Design at 234 Sioux Street, the longest running business in Kechi.

    The Valley Center City Planning Commission will conduct a Public Hearing on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, 7:00 p.m. at the Valley Center City Hall, 121 S. Meridian, Valley Center to consider amending the City of Valley Center Zoning Regulations (Article 17) and minor changes to the  Bylaws of the City Planning Commission. Zoning amendments include minor changes to definitions, additional fence regulations, revisions to Zoning District language, accessory structures, sign code changes, and variance language. The amended regulations can be viewed prior to the Public Hearing at the Valley Center City Hall, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Anyone may submit written comments to the City Community Development Department at 121 S. Meridian, Valley Center, KS 67147 or call the Community Development Department at 755-7310 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Request to de-annex is denied Chris Strunk
    The Sedgwick County Commission on July 24 denied a petition from the Ranchos del Rios subdivisions to be de-annexed from Valley Center, essentially saying the city had made up for its past mistakes and is providing better service to the residents.
