    Riding a wave of momentum on the residential and commercial development front throughout the city, Bel Aire city leaders are thinking outside the box to spur construction in the upscale Elk Creek addition near 45th North and Rock Road.
Plans still in place for Bel Aire apartments Matt Heilman
    The project finally has the financing it needs to happen. On a four-acre tract near 53rd North and Rock Road, just north of Northeast Magnet High School, Zimmerman Properties LLC will construct an apartment complex in Bel Aire called Brookstone Villa.

    Sedgwick County Fire officials said sparklers left outside a residence caused a July 5 fire that destroyed a doublewide mobile home on East Sequoya in Park City.
Jewelry taken in burglary
    An unknown amount of jewelry was stolen in a burglary reported in the early morning hours of July 1 in Park City.
Organizer pleased with turnout for Salute to Freedom Matt Heilman
    The overall attendance is difficult to peg, but organizers were pleased with the turnout for the annual Salute to Freedom celebration July 4 in Park City. Park City community events committee member Sheryl Karleskint said between 800 and 900 people attended a concert in the park from country music artist and Mound Valley native, James Wesley.

    Ryker, the 10-month-old son of Justin and Johnna Lygrisse, will undergo surgery in Omaha, Neb., July 19 to receive cochlear implants in both ears. On July 31, the Valley Center family will return to Omaha to “turn on" the implants, his family said.
