Kechi responds to recent spike in burglaries Matt Heilman The City of Kechi is hoping combined efforts of its police department, staff, and residents will detract potential burglars from targeting the city. In February, there were six reported break-ins or attempted break-ins in Kechi, including five in the first week.

Twelve Hornet wrestlers receive all-league honors Matt Heilman A season that culminated with a fifth-place finish at the Class 5A state tournament has been followed by post-season accolades for the Valley Center High School wrestling team. This week, 12 Hornets received all-league honors in Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League II.

VCMS wrestlers second at league tourney The News staff The Valley Center Middle School wrestling team capped its 2013 season with a second-place finish at the March 2 Pioneer League II Tournament in Valley Center. The Hornets placed 15 of 17 wrestlers and finished second in the team standings behind Ark City.

Versatile Hornet signs with McPherson College Matt Heilman Versatility, heart, desire and drive are four components McPherson College Volleyball Coach Susan Barton said make Valley Center High School senior Taylor Johnson a good fit to join her team next fall.
