FOOTBALL PICKS: Bohlmann wins fifth week with 16 picks

Harold Bohlmann broke a three-way tie to win the fifth week of The Ark Valley News football picks contest.

Bohlmann and two other pickers — Bob Scantlin and Jeremy Wormington — had 16 correct picks. Bohlmann's tiebreaker guess of 53 was closest to the combined final score of the Houston Texans and Kansas City Chiefs game (31-24). Scantlin had a guess of 48 for second place, and Wormington's guess of 42 got him third place.

Bohlmann wins $25 in football bucks, Scantlin $15 and Wormington $10. This week's prizes can be picked up at Halstead Bank, 101 W. Industrial.

Twelve people had 15 correct picks. They were Vic Carroll, Kyrie Edwards, Rex Jordan, Isaac Neal, Gordon Reddoch, Derek Rindt, Heath Royal, Sharon Scantlin, Jarrod Truman, Danell Wilbur, Judy Wilson and Neal Young.

Scores will accumulate during the 10-week contest. The overall winner will receive two tickets to the Kansas City Chiefs Dec. 29 home game against the Los Angeles Chargers, a night's stay at a hotel and $100 in cash.

At the midway point, three pickers were tied for the top spot. Bob Scantlin, Cason Berschauer and Debbie O'Rear each had 71 points. Gary Anderson was next with 70. Sharon Scantlin had 69. Derek Rindt, Danell Wilbur and Craig Kutz had 68. Harold Bohlmann and Dan Schmidt were sitting at 67. Six others were tied at 66.
