Bomb squad removes hand grenade
Last Updated: April 25, 2019

Police blocked 77th Street from Seneca to Broadway in Valley Center for over two hours this morning (April 19) because of a hand grenade found in the ditch. A bomb squad was called to the scene.

Chief Lloyd Newman said a church group cleaning up the ditches around 77th discovered the grenade near a fence on the 81 Speedway property. The group called police just before 9:30 a.m.

The bomb squad responded and removed the hand grenade. The road was re-opened about noon.
