Barry lands Halstead post By The News staff Last Updated: February 14, 2019 Ron Barry, former teacher and administrator in the Valley Center school district, was named superintendent of the Halstead school district. Barry, who has been principal at Halstead Middle School for the past two years, will replace Tom Alstrom, who is retiring at the end of the school year. Barry was hired as a social studies teacher at Valley Center High School in 2008. He was promoted to athletic director in 2013 and then moved to the middle school in 2016. Barry was chosen over three other finalists for the job — Tim Hayden, a former principal at Valley Center Middle School; Kristie Thackery, an elementary school principal in Augusta, and Joe Gerber, principal at Halstead High School. |
