Calendar extends winter break Last Updated: January 17, 2019 The 2019-20 school year for Valley Center will start Aug. 15, will end May 20 and will have a longer winter break. The Valley Center school board on Jan. 14 approved the district calendar for next year. The calendar is much like this year, Superintendent Cory Gibson said. The calendar includes a full, two-week winter break, which is two days longer than this year's break. The calendar adds a teacher inservice day to extend the break for students. The inservice day was moved from the end of school to January to extend the break. Gibson said the calendar option received "overwhelming" support from teachers and staff. |
