The View from Sunflower Gardens By Marilyn Bentley Last Updated: January 17, 2019 Busy year for Kansas politics The highways and byways of Kansas are busy this time of year with new month and year underway. At Sunflower, we like our Monday coffee chats, Tuesday Bible study, music sing-alongs, game nights, potluck dinners, our library, movie night and walks down our halls. A new year has dawned, and it is a busy year for Kansas in politics. We have a new Gov. Kelly. There are a few new laws to remember. We at Sunflower are Kansas Proud of the economy of Kansas through foods and airplanes. School children are learning new lessons. Handwriting is now becoming important again. Keep in prayer all our troops and families, our Congress and president. So far, our January weather is tolerable. We wake to see morning frost on cars. The view from Sunflower is a broad view of state happenings, U.S.A. events and world events. Our economy has survived recent ups and downs on the Dow. Our economic activity is fun to watch. All Kansas charity activity is so needed. Verse of the week: " I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor anything else nor creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God who is in Christ our lord." (Romans 8:38,39) At Sunflower, we learn to pray where you are, anytime. We like the Mennonite concerts and Friday night sing-alongs here. Some folks like activities like game nights. Welcome, welcome, new residents. It's fun "getting to know you." Some new folks attend our coffee chats, movie nights, Bible studies and game night and Friday sing-alongs. We learned a lot in our morning Tuesday Bible study with our unit on Women of the Bible. Good advice: "Listen to people. Everyone has a viewpoint. Look at advice with a sense of humor." Be the first to smile, say hello. Be an optimist — give and share. A good friend is a concerned listener. "Be yourself and the world is your oyster." — Emerson Be glad with what you have. Be kind, anyway." — Mother Teresa Happy trails to you in Kansas. |
