Kechi approves Rock Pointe change By Taylor Messick Last Updated: November 15, 2018 On Nov. 8, Kechi announced a change order for paving of phase two of Rock Pointe. The item was approved by the city administrator due to its urgent nature. PEC notified the city in late October that a change order was requested for dirt work to be performed outside the scope or specifications of the work plan. Delaying action would have slowed or halted work on the project and would have resulted in lost work days, which would be bad for the developer and, ultimately, the city. The city administrator consulted with the city engineer and public works and decided to approve the order. Now, the city will pay nothing for this change order in the amount of $15,908.45. That is under the Developer's Petitioned Amounts, meaning it will have to be paid by the developer. A 1 percent per month escalator has been included in the petition to cover time delays and unforeseen costs. That is the funding source of this particular change order. It is within the allowable project budget. In other business, the council: •Approved a shared sick leave personnel policy 4-0. •Discussed a KMGA gas prepay option. •Authorized a workshop Dec. 13 at 6 to discuss emergency preparedness. •Voted to close City Hall Dec. 11 for website training at WSU computer lab west. Council member Betty Washington was absent. There was no executive session. |
