New owners invest in Valley Last Updated: October 25, 2018 Valley Center got a bit of good news last week when it learned that two publicly-owned buildings were successfully sold at auction. It's good that the City of Valley Center and the Valley Center school district each received some revenue from facilities they weren't using. But the better news is the people who purchased the properties were local residents who have already invested time and money into the place they call home. That's good for everyone. Businessman Paul Eden is purchasing the school district's former maintenance facility and adjoining fenced storage property on South Park for $67,000. Eden has already turned two eyesores at the corner of Main and Meridian into gems over the past several years, investing in the business community and drawing attention to downtown Valley Center. We have every reason to believe he'll do the same thing with the property he is purchasing. Eden said he plans to rent out the space. Meanwhile, Mike and Tammy Miller are purchasing the former public library on West First Street for $67,500. They aren't sure what they'll do with the building. They wanted it because it provided them future options for residential or light commercial ventures, and it sits behind residential property they already own. The Millers recently purchased the empty lot at the corner of Ash and First. They also own the two houses just south of the lot and are remodeling one of them. The Millers have proven they are committed to Valley Center with the residential properties they have been improving over the years. Again, we have every reason to believe the former library building will be in good and capable hands and it will again be a benefit to the community. That's good news. — The Ark Valley News |
