Local runners compete in Prairie Fire races

Several area residents competed in the Prairie Fire races Oct. 14 in downtown Wichita.

Among them was Morgan Wedekind, a Valley Center High School graduate who won the female division of the half-marathon. Wedekind finished in 1:22:54.

Competing in the marathon from Valley Center were Matthew Brunett, who finished 75th overall and sixth in the male 50 to 54 division with a time of 3:46:25; Jeff DeGarmo, who was 90th overall and fifth in male 60 to 64 with 3:55:56; and Seven Menefee, 212th overall and 27th in male 35 to 39 with 4:49:47.

From Park City were Larry Koehn, who was 143rd overall and eighth in male 60 to 54 with 4:16:40; and Michael Turner, 285th overall with 5:51:03.

From Bel Aire were Andrew Grogan, 182nd overall and 11th in men's 25 to 29 with 4:29:07; and Robyn Oltmanns, 316th overall and 30th in female 35 to 39 with 6:46:54.

A total of 329 runners finished the marathon.

Competing in the half marathon from Valley Center were Eve Vincent, who finished 67th overall and second in female 50 to 54 with 1:40:41; Kevin Perez, 459th overall and 26th in male 25 to 29 with 2:12:00; Lorie Unger, 579th overall and ninth in female 55 to 59 with 2:17.38; Kacie Martin, 759th overall and 39th in female 40 to 44 with 2:33:29; Todd Banick, 843rd overall and 52nd in male 45 to 49 with 2:42:07; Kayla Banick, 922nd overall and 65th in female 25 to 29 with 2:54:44; and Tracy Omo, 968th overall and 55th in female 45 to 49 with 3:04:12.

From Kechi were Lee Owens, who finished 62nd overall and third in male 45 to 49 with 1:39:11; Michael Kullman, 179th overall and 15th in male 40 to 44 with 1:59:29; and Joan Wagner, 715th overall and 35th in female 40 to 44 with 2:28:48.

From Park City were Charles Chege, 197th overall and fourth in male 1 to 19 with 1:53:53; and Anthony Menefee, 727th overall and 58th in male 30 to 34 with 2:30:28.

From Bel Aire were Michael Foster, 297th overall and 24th in male 25 to 29 with 1:59:54; Nicholas Grillot, 343rd overall and 38th in male 35 to 39 with 2:03:45; Thomas Grillot, 401st overall and 40th in male 30 to 34 with 2:08:13; Ashley Andes, 456th overall and 30th in female 25 to 29 with 2:11:53; Chrystal Johnson, 499th overall and 47th in female 35 to 39 with 2:13:34; Jeffrey Waalkes, 541st overall and 48th in male 30 to 34 with 2:15:23; Sara Rauch, 693rd overall and 41st in female 25 to 29 with 2:27:10; Claire Pottebaum, 708th overall and 41st in female 20 to 24 with 2:28:32; Ashlee Foster, 729th overall and 45th in female 25 to 29 with 2:30:51; and Carrie Kepley, 935th and 101st in female 35 to 39 with 2:57:06.

A total of 1,032 runners finished the half marathon.

Area runners competing in the 5K were Michael Smith of Valley Center, who was 32nd overall and second in male 60 to 64 with 23:42; T.J. Johnson of Bel Aire, 34th overall and second in male 35 to 39 with 24:13; Jan Nattier of Kechi, 329th overall and 15th in female 50 to 59 with 37:36; Jessi Becker of Park City, 347th overall and 10th in female 20 to 24 with 38:30; and Desiree Brogan of Bel Aire, 458th overall and 29th in female 30 to 34 with 51:20.
