The View from Sunflower Gardens By Marilyn Bentley Last Updated: September 13, 2018 Ranchers, farmers feed Kansans "From farm to fork" is true of food from our Kansas ranchers and farmers. Wholesome foods for the world are grown in our cropland. Generations of family farmers have shown through hard work, study and new ways to market wheat, soybeans, corn, oats, hay and vegetables. Kansas cattle thrive on grassland. This makes us Kansas Proud. Verse of the week: "Trust in the Lord and do good so shall thou dwell in the land and be fed." (Psalms 37:3) Among the dear hears who live here are some who lived on farms. We like our Monday coffee chats, Tuesday Bible study, game nights, music concerts, sing-alongs, puzzles, potluck dinners, our library and walks down our halls. Welcome, welcome new residents. Remember to keep our troops and families in your prayers. Also our Congress and president. In our Tuesday Bible study, we are studying women of the Bible. We learned of 15 special women in Genesis. We learned of travels in the Holy Land of the patriarchs. Our Kansas children are now back in the classrooms of Kansas, glad to see friends and classmates. "While he — with purr and velvet paw — became within my house the law. "He scratched the furniture and shed and claimed the middle of my bed. "He ruled in arrogance and pride and broke my heart the day he died. "So if you think, oh cat, I'd willingly relive all that "Because you come, forlorn and thin, "Well, don't just stand there — come on in!" — Phyllis Buell It's soon Kansas State Fair time. We like to see all the animal 4-H projects of Kansas cattle, sheep, goats, chickens, pigs and proud young people who raised them. Also garden produce is shown. Canning is shown off. It's a great skill to use fruits and vegetable in a way that preserves food. Some folks like the rides and foods at the fair. We like the give-away maps ad pens. "Be kind, anyway." — Mother Teresa |
