Official: Ranzau wins GOP nod
By Chris Strunk
Last Updated: August 23, 2018

It's official.

The Republican primary election to select a GOP candidate for the Sedgwick County Commission's Fourth District was settled last week. Richard Ranzau, the incumbent, was the winner.

Ranzau edged out Hugh Nicks and will face Democrat Lacey Cruse in the Nov. 6 general election.

Nicks requested a recount after the Aug. 7 primary election results were canvassed and showed he trailed by 75 votes.

The Sedgwick County Election Office said vote results were finalized late last week and have been labeled official.

Ranzau finished with 3,513 votes, while Nicks had 3,438 (50.5 percent to 49.5 percent).

That's the same margin as it was before the recount.

Ranzau is seeking his third four-year term.
