Police tag vehicles over parking rules
By Chris Strunk
Last Updated: July 19, 2018

Police got tough on a string of illegally parked vehicles in Valley Center last week.

According to reports, six vehicles with expired tags were red-tagged for parking on city streets.

It started July 9, when officers found an SUV in the 300 block of North Dexter and a car at Third and Burns with expired tags.

Two days later, vehicles in the 300 block of North Abilene, the 400 block of North Colby and the 700 block of North Abilene were found to have expired tags. One of the vehicles had a tag that was not assigned to it.

Later July 11, a vehicle at Meadow and Longview was stickered for having an expired tag.

It's unclear how many vehicles were inoperable.

“Officers had some complaints they worked, and they just were proactive on some others that they noticed had been sitting there a while," Chief Lloyd Newman said.

Typically, police give owners 72 hours to move their vehicles or update their tags.
