Park City revisits residency rule for admin By Taylor Messick Last Updated: July 12, 2018 On July 10, Park City council held a brief meeting with a very short agenda. There was no action taken on any major items. A couple of members of the public showed up to speak during the public forum about the city's discussion at its last meeting. The council had detailed discussion June 26 about whether to allow the city to hire a city administrator living outside the city. One suggestion during the public forum July 10 was for the city to give a potential new hire a certain amount of time to move into the city. Another suggested that the city essentially keep its current policy of requiring the city administrator to live in the city. Mayor Ray Mann explained June 26 that he would like the city administrator to live in the city, but he believes the current language of the rule could handcuff the hiring process in certain instances. The city removed an item pertaining to that ordinance at the beginning of its meeting and replaced it with a discussion item. The city instead discussed ways that it could possibly help low-income residents whose homes are in need of repairs. Since the item wasn't formally on the agenda, the council decided that research needed to be done before official action could be taken. The only other item discussed was the city's attendance at the League of Kansas Municipalities Annual Conference from Oct. 6 through 8. Council member George Glover was absent. There was no executive session. |
