Kechi city council OKs annual street sweeping By Taylor Messick Last Updated: March 15, 2018 A couple of Kechi City Council members were unable to attend the March 8 meeting, but that didn't stop the rest of the governing body from tackling some important business. The council authorized a one-time spring street cleaning for the city. Members unanimously hired local business Cillessen & Sons for the job at an amount not to exceed $7,602. City Administrator Bob Conger said the city will seek bids for the work in the future. The council unanimously voted to renew the city's insurance with Joyce Hubbard ICI at an annual cost of $66,142. The entity was formerly known as Zerr Inc., but was recently bought by Joyce Hubbard. Curtis Zerr will still be the city's agent. The council also unanimously approved the purchase of a new patrol car for the police department. Police Chief John Blevins selected the lowest priced option — a Dodge Charger. The car will be purchased from Parks Motors at a cost of $16,442. In other business, the council: •Unanimously approved the consent agenda which included Mayor John Speer's appointment of Michael Tokarz to the Park & Tree Board. •Unanimously approved a structural analysis of the Kechi Playhouse by PEC at an amount not to exceed $2,000. •Unanimously voted to form a committee responsible for authorizing city logo wall signage. The committee can hire a firm for up to $5,000. •Unanimously approved job step level increases for Nicole Bailey and Earl Findley. Council members Kevin Opat and Brian Adams were absent. There were three 10-minute executive sessions taken for performance reviews, prospective employee discussion and attorney client privilege information. |
