 Chess team wins state Last Updated: March 15, 2018 The Valley Center High School chess team won the Class 5A state tournament March 10 at The University of Kansas in Lawrence. In all classes, the Hornets placed fourth. Individual placers included Kaleb Waller with 61st, Noah Maskrid 44th, Mauricio Garcia 42nd, Derrick Foster 16th and Cooper Watkins eighth. The team is coached by Jared Vogel. |
