Program will grow with new coach Last Updated: February 01, 2018 Good choice. Valley Center High School administrators promoted from within to get its next head football coach. They got a good one, and they know it. Scott L'Ecuyer, who has deep Valley Center roots, accepted the job. A social studies teacher at the high school, L'Ecuyer was offensive coordinator for the past two seasons. From our view, L'Ecuyer has the knowledge, demeanor, patience and enthusiasm to run a large high school football program. He came back to Valley Center two years ago after putting together a very attractive resume. He was a head coach at a smaller school and an assistant at three others before joining the Hornet staff. L'Ecuyer, like his predecessor Caleb Smith, also possessed something even more valuable: A lot of love for Valley Center. This is his home. This is not a stepping stone for L'Ecuyer. This is, in all frankness, his teaching and coaching destiny. He wanted to be here. He wanted to sink even deeper roots in the community. For that, we are pleased with the hire and look forward to watching him and the program grow. — The Ark Valley News |
