From the library By Janice Sharp, director Last Updated: December 28, 2017 Library open regular hours next week Based on the weather reports for the upcoming week, it looks like we'll have a cold Christmas. Snow would make the holiday seem more like Christmas but would also hamper travel plans for many. I'm happy that I won't be traveling very far and can enjoy my family and being home. The library staff certainly wishes everyone a safe, happy Christmas with their families. The library will be open our regular hours Dec. 26 through Dec. 29 next week. Some of our staff will be off, but the remaining staff will handle all duties. We are nearing the end of the year. If you wish any donations to be deductible for your 2017 taxes, we will need to have the funds by 6 p.m. Dec. 29 since we will be closed Dec. 30. The immediate need before moving will be to have our shelving ready and to have a new book drop for outside the building. We will add other needed items as funds become available. We at the library are looking forward to the new year. We have the new facility to look forward to in the summer, and all that will come with moving the collection. We have discussed how we will handle the move, but no decisions have been made. We will be scheduling programs for our adults and teens throughout the spring. The new adult reading challenge will begin Jan. 1 with the requirement of reading a minimum of eight books that are green in color on the cover or green in the title or subtitle. We will have the logs ready for pickup at the circulation desk. Do you have ideas for programs for 2018? We would love to have your ideas. We do have the schedule for the monthly silent auction baskets, but we always love ideas for reading challenges or programming. Upcoming events Dec. 19 — No story times until Jan. 9 Dec. 23 — Library closed Dec. 25 — Library closed Dec. 30 — Library closed Jan. 1 — Library closed Jan. 9 — Story times resume |
