Suspect accused of armed robbery
By Chris Strunk
Last Updated: September 07, 2017

An 18-year-old man accused of holding four teenage boys at gunpoint while he took some of their belongings was arrested Sept. 5. The man's name has not been released.

Police Sgt. Lloyd Newman said two other suspects (both juveniles) in the alleged armed robbery in Valley Center are being interviewed this week and could face charges.

Newman said the two juveniles were riding bicycles near the Valley Center library on East First Sept. 3 when a group of four teenagers began teasing them. The kids rode away, but returned with an 18-year-old relative of one of the boys.

The 18-year-old is accused of pulling out a gun and ordering the four teenagers to the ground while he took some of their property.

He allegedly told the victims to wait 15 minutes before getting up.

Nobody was hurt, Newman said.

A gun was later recovered.
