Highlights Last Updated: June 22, 2017 Tammie Williams of Valley Center graduated from Lubbock (Texas) Christian University last month with a bachelor of interdisciplinary elementary in early childhood education. Williams was a member of Kappa Delta Pi Honors Society, having made both the dean's and president's lists while at Lubbock Christian. She is the daughter of Ben and Darlene Williams, Andy and Paula Conley, and the wife of Brian Cockshutt. ††† Gregory Schunk of Wichita earned a master of science degree in computer science from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta during commencement exercises May 5 and 6. ††† Paige Lundin of Valley Center is the house manager in Emporia State University's production of "Don't Hug Me" by Paul and Phil Olson. She is a senior speech and theatre education major. "Don't Hug Me" runs June 28 through July 1 at 7:30 p.m. All performances will be in the Karl C. Bruder Theatre, 1301 Market Street. ††† Col. Robert J. Crow, a native of Valley Center, retired from the Texas Army National Guard and Texas Military Department. He was honored for his 35 years of service during a ceremony held June 4 at Camp Mabry in Austin, Texas. Crow, who is the son of Billy and Mildren Crow, enlisted in the Army in 1980 and earned his commission as a second lieutenant in the regular Army in Field Artillery from Cameron University in Lawton, Okla., in 1985. During his time in the Army, he served in various locations across Texas, Germany, Kansas and Iraq. As a battalion commander, he led his unit to operate and secure Forward Operating Base Danger in Tikrit, Iraq and earned the Army Meritorious Unit Citation in support Operation Iraqi Freedom. Throughout his career, Crow served in a variety of positions to include Battery Commander, Division Counter Fire Officer, Brigade Fire Support Officer, Division Field Artillery Intelligence Officer, Battalion Commander, Brigade Commander and 71st Troop Command Chief of Staff. Crow holds a bachelor of science in computer science. His military schools include the Field Artillery Officer Basic and Advance Courses, Combined Arms and Services Staff School, Command and General Staff College and the Field Artillery Pre-Command Course for Battalion & Brigade Commanders. |
