Two area students were named to honor rolls for the spring 2017 semester at Oklahoma City University.

Nicholas Reese of Valley Center was named to the dean's honor roll by completing a minimum of 12 credit hours and maintaining a grade point average of 3.5 or higher.

Nicole Vogel of Wichita was named to president's honor roll by completing a minimum of 12 credit hours during the semester and maintaining a grade point average of 3.9 or higher.

Kayla Hicks, an athletic training major from Wichita, was honored at Buena Vista University's annual Student Recognition Dinner on April 29.

Hicks was recognized for her participation in The Otteman Student Research & Internship program.

Every year at BVU, students have opportunities to complete internships that help prepare them for their careers, do significant research in their discipline, and travel nationally and internationally. Many students received gift assistance to help assure they are able to pursue these opportunities. This support is made available through contributions from alumni and friends.

Buena Vista University is located in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Rickey Nicks of Wichita was named to the University of Arkansas at Little Rock dean's list for the spring 2017 semester.

To be named to the dean's list, a student must complete at least nine credit hours with no grade lower than a C, have no incompletes or "no credit" grades and achieve at least a 3.5 grade point average.

New officers were installed at the Little Arkansas Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) in Valley Center.

Pam Brillhart was installed as regent, Patty Robidou as vice regent/registrar, Marsha Huebert as treasurer, Pam Porter as recording secretary and Judy Lankford as chaplain. They will serve two-year terms.

The chapter meets at the Valley Center Historical Society's Meeting Room at 112 N. Meridian. Any woman over 18 who can prove lineal descent to an American Patriot of the Revolutionary War may join. For more information you can email info@littlearkansasdar.org or call Porter at 755-3237.
