The former Kechi grade school held a reunion May 13 with approximately 25 "kids" in attendance. The group attended school at Kechi in the 1950s and 1960s.

They met at the Kechi United Methodist Church, shared pictures and memories along with dessert and tea or coffee. They toured the old school, which is now Northside Bible Chapel. Many of them visited Kechi shops before eating at the Stearman Field Bar and Grill in Benton.

A local author's newest creation will be the focus of a book signing from 2 to 4 p.m. June 10 at the Sedgwick Meeting House.

Retired teacher Brenda Heller, who lives west of Valley Center, teamed up with fellow teacher Jimmy Adams to write "TimeWorm," a historical fiction about a 17-year-old boy from the future who jumps back in time to Nazi Germany.

The book was released last fall. It is the first in a three-part series, Heller said. The second book is due out by the end of the year.

Heller and Adams taught school together in Derby.
