What's on your mind Last Updated: March 30, 2017 Observe bicycle rules Many people ride bikes around Valley Center. Riding Broadway, Meridian, 69th, 77th, 85th, 93rd and 101st are popular for many people in Sedgwick County. As the weather warms up, there will be more people sharing the roads. Many people must not realize that bicycles legally get the use of these roadways. Drivers have to stay three feet away from cyclists when they pass them on roadways. It might be nice for everyone to have a reminder printed in the paper of these laws. It might save someone's life. Enforce noise law Perhaps, rather than offering property tax abatements and giving away city water, the city could impose and enforce disturbing-the-peace laws. Increased revenue from fines for repeated violations or increased marketability of new homes would result. The railroad operators could comply by limiting their obnoxious intrusive horn blowing or pay for their unnecessary disturbances. Free water and reduced taxes mean nothing if your house can't be a sanctuary of peace which you want to call home. Views from News readers |
