The Valley Victors 4-H Club donated $250 to an Ashland family affected by recent wildfires.

MacKenzie Moldenhauer and her mother, Marcine, delivered the money as well as a turkey and dressing lunch with all of the fixings, including peach crisp and a big pan of brownies, to the Grigsby family this week.

The family's children — Britt, 11, Reese, a high school freshman, and Kashlee, a kindergarten student — are involved in 4-H.

Marcine Moldenhauer said Kashlee's bucket calf was burned in the fire, and Britt and Reese lost a show heifer from last year.

Moldenhauer said the fire literally burned to the family's doorsteps, melting siding on their house and burning one corner of the house.

The family also lost all of their fence, two tractors, some farm equipment and a few cows, but mostly baby calves.

"They were very, very thankful for the club's donation and all of the other thoughts and prayers," Moldenhauer said in an email.
