On Feb. 11, Valley Center's Cub Scout Pack 494 and Boy Scout Troop 494 conducted their annual Blue and Gold Banquet.

This is when the Cub Scout Webelo II's (age 10) graduate from Cub Scouts and cross over to Boy Scouts.

This year, 10 boys crossed over. They were Benjamin Parker Asmussen, Reid Girard Bowen, Maxwell Jeffery Doubltree, Ryder Anthony Helfrich, Ethan James Leiker, Ethan Scott Mace, Mackenzie Dale Miller Jr., Barrett Samuel Smith, Max Carter Wallman and Alden John Wiebe.

Each boy received a hand-crafted crossover box that was all hand-built by Packmaster Paul Wiebe.

The event started with McConnell Air Force Base Color Guard posting the colors and also providing an official flag folding ceremony.

More than 200 parents, grandparents and friends attended with the boys. Dinner preceded the ceremony.

Pack 494 and Troop 494 thanked Valley Center for its continued support of Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. To join, contact Packmaster Gorden Crippen at 253-3425 or chaseandaidensdad@gmail.com.
