Last Updated: February 13, 2017

A 36-year-old Wichita man was arrested in connection with a deadly shooting west of Valley Center early Feb. 12.

According to Sedgwick County jail records, Michael Lee Phillips was booked into the jail about 2 p.m. Feb. 12 on charges of first-degree murder, aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated assault.

Phillips' address is in south Wichita.

No bond was set.

Phillips was taken into custody at 8331 N. 94th West.

Earlier Feb. 12, the sheriff's office said in a news release that deputies were dispatched to the report of a shooting in the 8300 block of North 94th about 3 a.m.

When deputies arrived they immediately began providing aide to a 22-year-old male victim. The suspect in the shooting had already left the scene.

A second victim, a 20-year-old male, was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle and was treated for a gunshot wound.

The 22-year-old male victim was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries and died of his wounds about 4:30 a.m.

Deputies located a suspect who was transported to the Investigations Division of the sheriff's office.

Phillips was arrested later that afternoon.
